PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To split an incident laser beam in such a manner as to reduce loss so that machining characteristics are maintained. SOLUTION: In obtaining four branching laser beams for example by receiving an incident laser beam and splitting it into four beams; while the incident laser beam is provided with an incident beam area (e.g. a circular area), the area is bisected along a line segment through the center of the cross section of the area, thereby obtaining two laser beams; then, in one of the two laser beams, its area is bisected along the line segment through the center of the cross section of the incident beam area by means of a slice mirror 35, thereby obtaining two branching laser beams; then, in the other of the two laser beams, its area is similarly bisected by means of a slice mirror 40, obtaining two branching laser beams; thus, a total of four branching laser beams are obtained. |
