The method involves inducing acoustic signals in a track (B) by a rail vehicle (T) on the track. A vehicle from the same vehicle bond evaluates the signal response generated in the track for receiving the condition of the track. Running noise which superimposes the signal response is filtered for the evaluation of the signal response. Preferably, acoustic signals are presented by the running noise of the rail vehicle. The acoustic signals are presented either exclusively or additionally to the running noises by ultra sound signals induced by the vehicles in the track.
