Hot-melt adhesives, of high stability in the melt, for bonding or coatings a wide variety of solids, are copolymers of (A) Nitriles of alpha,beta-unsatd. mono- and/or di-carboxylic acids 1-20 wt.%. - (B) Amides of alpha,beta-unsatd. mono-and/or di-carboxylic acids 1-20 wt.% (C) Esters (4-12C alcohols) of alpha,beta-unsatd. mono-and/or di-carboxylic acids 40-97 wt.% and (D) MMA 1-30 wt.%. - This is pref. condensed with 0.01-1.0% of CH2O which is added to the copolymer as the bond is being made, or to one of the surfaces, or as an interlayer - conveniently as a CH2O donor such as paraformaldehyde or hexamethyltetramine.
