PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose dioxins present in water by irradiating the dioxins with ultrasonic waves of specified frequencies. SOLUTION: A boat 2 is floated on a pond 1 where dioxins are present and ultrasonic waves are emitted into water 3 at a proper interval of the depth from an ultrasonic wave generator 4. The frequencies of the ultrasonic waves to be emitted are made to >=20 kHz. When the dioxins in the water are irradiated with the ultrasonic waves, a cavitation phenomenon is caused to produce lots of cavities at a high temp. (about 4500 deg.C) and a high pressure (100 atm) which are so-called as not spots for several microseconds. When the hydrophobic dioxins coexisting in the water jump in the cavities, the dioxins are decomposed by the high temp. and high pressure energy. This function is more effective as the existing concn. of the dioxins is low. |
