PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a regenerating device to eliminate the drawback that since in addition to a mixed ion exchange resin to be regenerated, a circulating mixed ion exchange resin for preventing inverse generation is added to a cation regenerating column to backwash and separate the mixed ion exchange, the height of the cation regenerating column is increased the amount of the circulating mixed ion exchange resin on backwashing and separating operation and also construction cost of the regenerating device is made higher. SOLUTION: In this method of regenerating an ion exchange resin, after a mixed ion exchange resin consisting of a used cation exchange resin and anion exchange resin is replenished by a circulating mixed ion exchange resin M and the replenished, mixed ion exchange resin is backwashed and separated into a cation exchange resin K and an anion exchange resin A, the ion exchange resins K, A each are regenerated individually. In this case, after the used mixed ion exchange resin is backwashed and separated in a cation regenerating column 11, most of the anion exchange resin A is withdrawn from the cation regenerating column 11, and next, the cation regenerating column 11 is replenished with the circulating mixed ion exchange resin M, and then, the replenished, mixed ion exchange resin M is backwashed and separated again into the cation exchange resin K and the anion exchange resin A. |
