PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform function selecting and determining by switching the operation contents of a 2nd key group according to the operation of a 1st key group. SOLUTION: In addition to a function for registering the telephone numbers and names of subscribers in a telephone book area 8b, a portable telephone set 1 is provided with a mail function which can send and receive a relatively- short document by using a mail area 8c. To input characters and symbols when those functions are executed, a select key 10 is used. The user can determine input by switching the display in a function display area in a screen display, i.e., the functions of respective keys of the select key 10 by operating a key pad 9. Data in a memory 8 stored with characters etc., inputted by using the respective keys of the select key 10 are properly read out by a control circuit 3 and displayed on the screen of an LCD 12 through an LCD driving circuit 11. |
