An apparatus and method for providing pressure integrity in a multilateral well, comprising a multilateral tool (7) connected to a primary casing (32) in a wellbore, including a lateral junction providing an unsealed connection of at least a first (8) and a second (5) casing string to said primary casing. A first intermediate liner casing section (40) extends said first casing string into a subterranean formation, and a first scab tieback liner (44) connects the upper end of said first intermediate liner casing section to the lower end of said primary casing, so as to straddle said lateral junction in said multilateral tool. This provides pressure integrity for said first casing string to enable further drilling in said first casing string, to a production zone, before installation of a production liner. |
