In a vehicular engine stop control device wherein an engine (1) is stopped automatically when predetermined engine stop conditions are met and wherein the engine (1) that has been stopped automatically is restarted when predetermined engine restart conditions are met, torque-down control of the engine (1) is performed (step 380) only when the engine (1) is restarted on condition (steps 340 and 350) that an accelerator has been turned on while a foot brake is on. Thus, it is possible to prevent a deterioration in durability of a clutch (C1) without adversely affecting responsibility at the time of take-off.
