PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a carrier for carrying a print medium accurately and a printer equipped with such a print medium carrier. SOLUTION: In carrying a print medium P using a pulse motor M as a drive source, a control means C controls the carrying distance of the print medium based on a carrying distance determined based on an output pulse from an encoder 107 and a target value and a distance error smaller than the resolution of the encoder 107 is corrected by the number of pulses inputted to the pulse motor M.
