Synthetic leather, suitable for shoe uppers, with improved resistance to wear, good handle, good bending strength is produced by coating a suitable carrier with a layer of polyurethane or mainly polyurethane, or with two layers, the second of which may be made from different polymers, and pressing onto the layer a laminate consisting of a fleece bonded to a microporous polymer with the microporous layer onto the polyurethane layer with heating and under pressure. The carrier is peeled off after cooling the combination. Specif., layer is of 50 wt. % polyurethane and 50 wt. % vinylidenechlorideacrylonitrile based copolymer.
