The invention relates to a rotating cylinder for an epilator which in a preferred version of the invention comprises at least two adjacent disks (1, 1') which on their sides facing each other have at least one groove (2) so as to form a recess for receiving clamping elements (3). The invention also provides for two adjacent clamping elements (5, 6) which are housed in said recess (3). Sound attenuating means (14, 22, 63) are provided for which are assigned to at least one of the clamping elements (5, 6).
