<p>Significant drug-resistance mutations in HIV are preceeded by the development of polymorphisms in the bases located on either side of the site of the drug-resistance mutation, and similar polymorphisms are likely to occur prior to other drug-resistance mutations. A method is provided for detection of polymorphic mutations which provides an indication of an increased risk of an imminent drug-resistance mutation, which can be considered in determining whether or not to maintain a patient on a given drug-therapy.</p> |
