PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand binary image data with any arbitrary magnification in high-speed and simple circuit configuration. SOLUTION: A reference area including a concerned pixel is inputted from an image input circuit 1 to a pattern match circuit 2. The pattern match circuit 2 compares the reference area with plural pixel arrangement patterns and discriminates the pixel arrangement pattern matched with the reference area. A 2×2 pixel storage part 6 previously stores plural 2×2 pixels composed of the concerned pixel and its inverted pixel. A 2×2 pixel output circuit 5 selectively outputs 2×2 pixels corresponding to the pixel arrangement pattern matched with the reference area out of plural 2×2 pixels.
