PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sudden rise of engine speed caused by a sudden drop of engine load. SOLUTION: When the opening angleθof a throttle is found of or below a preset opening angleθi, an idle switch is found set on and the rotational speed N of an engine is found of or below a preset rotation speed Ni in S1 to S3, or when the throttle opening angleθis found of or below the preset opining angleθi, the idle switch is found set on, the engine rotational speed N is found above the preset rotational speed Ni and the clutch is found disengaged in S1 to S4, an idle control valve is feedback-controlled to bring the actual rotational speed nearer to a target rotational speed in S5.
