PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder used for printing inks, exhibiting excellent adhesivity to various kinds of films and giving printed products having excellent physical properties such as boiling resistance and retort resistance. SOLUTION: This binder used for printing inks mainly contains a polyurethane obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate component with a polyol component consisting mainly of a polyesterpolyol which contains structural units of the formula: -O-(CH2 )2 CH(CH3 )-(CH2 )3 CH(CH3 )-O- in an amount of at least 20 mol.% in diol units and which has a number-average mol.wt. of 700-5,000.
