PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleaning method in which an oxygen detecting element can be cleaned with good efficiency and sufficiently. SOLUTION: In a cleaning method, a cleaning machine 26 which supplies water and a cleaning nozzle 27 are arranged at the lower part of a fixed board 16, the cleaning machine 26 and the cleaning nozzle 27 are moved upward, and the cleaning nozzle 27 is passed through a through hole 21 in a fixation implement 18 so as to be inserted into the recessed part 11 of a solid electrolyte body 6. The cleaning nozzle 27 is arranged in such a way that its tip (its discharge port 29) is stopped in a position within 20 mm from the bottom 11a of the recessed part 11 so as not to come into contact with the inside face of the recessed part 11. Then, in this state, water is supplied from the cleaning machine 26, the water is jetted like a shower from the discharge port 29 at the tip pf the cleaning nozzle 27, and a cleaning operation is performed. In addition, by the cleaning operation, the cleaning nozzle 27 is rocked up and down together with the cleaning machine 26 so as to perform the cleaning operation. |
