PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition with improved water resistance, resistance to wet smearing tendency, etc., thereby suitable for use in ink jet printing process, by including water, an anionic dye and a specific polyamine compound. SOLUTION: This ink composition is obtained by including (A) about 80-99.9 wt.% of water, (B) about 0.05-10 wt.% of an anionic dye, and (C) about 0.01-50 wt.% of a poly-quaternary amine compound, at least one kind selected from poly-diallylammonium compounds, poly-quaternarized polyvinylamines and poly- quaternarized poly-allylamines; wherein the component A is pref. an aqueous vehicle comprising water and a water-soluble or water-miscible organic liquid in the weight ratio of about (100:0) to (30:70); the component C is pref. a compound with a weight-average molecular weight of about 1,000-10,000,000 and number-average molecular weight of about 800-11,000,000 having about 50,000-70,000 recurring monomer units; and the molar ratio: the group of the component B to the cationic poly-quaternary group is pref. about (1:0.33) to (1:300). |
