PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic (co)polymer having excellent electrical properties, low hygroscopicity, excellent adhesion, excellent film-forming properties, or the like, wherein the aromatic polymer chain comprises specified 2- phenylphenol repeating units (A) and specified phenolic comonomer units (B) inserted thereinto, the amounts of A and B are specified, and the weight-average molecular weight is specified. SOLUTION: 2-Phenylphenol repeating units A are represented by formula I or II, and the phenolic comonomer units B inserted thereinto are derived from 2,6-diphenylphenol,α-naphthol,β-naphthol or a phenolic group substituted with an alkyl, an alkoxyl, an alkenyl, or an alkynyl each of which is of 1-10C. The contents of A and B are 50-100 wt.% and 0-50 wt.%, based on the total polymer weight, respectively. The weight-average molecular weight should be 10,000-3,000,000 when measured by GPC. It is desirable that the preparation of the polymer is performed by a polymerization reaction in the presence of a catalyst comprising a copper compound and an amine.
