The bearing is for the leaf of a window or door hinging on a vertical axis and supported via top and bottom bearings on the frame. A hinge pin (26) on one half fits in a bearing bush in the other. The bush is split, allowing insertion of the pin in the radial direction in the fixed half, after which it is held in position by the other half. There can be a thrust bearing (38) on one half, and on which the other half is supported. This bearing can be adjustable in the axial direction, being typically mounted on an insert (32) sliding in the bearing half. Adjustment can be by a screw (43) accessible via a hole from the outside.
