PURPOSE:To increase the latitude of the photographic processing temp. of a photographic element formed by laying a temporary barrier layer (timing layer) having a 2-layer structure on a support by adding a carboxylic ester lactone polymer to the support side barrier layer. CONSTITUTION:A carboxylic ester lactone polymer contg. 0.25-5 milliequiv. acid groups per one gram polymer and having about 10,000-500,000mol.wt. is used. The polymer is obtd. by modifying a copolymer of unsatd. alpha,beta-dicarboxylic acid and vinyl ester of org. acid to lactone followed by esterification, and it includes a polymer contg. repeating units represented by the formula. Said carboxylic ester lactone polymer is added to the support side layer of a temporary barrier layer having a 2-layer structure and >=16Kcal/mol activation energy due to the permeation of an aqueous alkali soln. |
