PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adapt an opening rate of the gas outlet of an air bag by matching it with respective vehicular occupant having wide variety. SOLUTION: The air bag is provided with an adjustable gas outlet port 2 whose sectional area is limited to a maximum value. The gas outlet port 2 dimensions determines the gas flowing sectional area whereas possible maximum gas outlet opening rate limited to a value that can be predetermined is determined. The value of the gas outlet sectional area does not fluctuate during binding actuation. Instead thereof it is adjusted to the optimum to the respective occupants prior to the inflation of the air bag.
