PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting circuit capable of properly reducing preheat power for preheating the filament of a display element. SOLUTION: A drive circuit 8 adjusts the lighting rate of a display element 1 by performing the ON/OFF controls of switching elements 7 of a control circuit 5 based on a turning ON instructing signal from the outside. The calculating means 9 of the drive circuit 8 adjusts a preheat power source to be supplied from a preheat power source device 10 to the filament of the display element 1 by outputting a preheat control signal for controlling the preheat power source in accordance with the lighting rate of the element 1.
