摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the hindrance of a uniaxial alignment restricting force to the switching of liquid crystal molecules by providing a film made of a resin material on the inside surface of at least one substrate. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal material 107 is not in contact with an alignment layer 105 but isolated by a resin film 106 on the surface of the alignment layer 105. Therefore, the alignment restricting force of the alignment layer 105 to the liquid crystal material 107 is suppressed. Or, even if the resin film 106 is thin and the liquid crystal material 107 and alignment layer 105 are in partial contact with each other, the alignment restricting force is substantially suppressed because of the presence of the resin film 106. Thus, while the liquid crystal material 107 is aligned by the alignment layer 105 as a uniaxial alignment means, the subsequent alignment restricting force of the alignment layer 105 is substantially reduced or made ineffective. Therefore, the hindrance of the alignment restricting force of the alignment layer 105 to the switching of liquid crystal molecules can be prevented.
