The invention concerns a honeycomb with variable absorption designed to constitute safety barriers used either directly for absorbing shocks, or as a means for measuring the setting up of a safety system. The invention concerns the use of a honeycomb as absorbent material. Its density is variable inside a common block and this feature is obtained, either by varying the cell dimension, or by acting on the wall thickness. A third solution consists in perforating the honeycomb block cells transversely. These arrangements, used separately or in combination, enable to produce a honeycomb with variable density whereof the crushing characteristic, hence of shock absorption, varies according to the location where the deformation occurs. Said variable crushing characteristic can be localised in some zones only of a common honeycomb block.
