PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent functions of an element from being degraded at reverse bias conditions even under high humidity by stacking a reflecting layer and a transparent insulating layer successively on a holding body, and by using a backside reflecting layer with a highly reflecting metal in visible regions. SOLUTION: Substrate for the photovoltaic element is composed of a holding body 101, a reflecting layer 102, and a transparent insulating layer 103, successively, onto which a transparent conductive layer 105 is stacked. The reflecting layer 102 is preferably gold, silver, copper or aluminum, or an alloy consisting mainly of the metals, for in which vacuum evaporation technique, sputtering technique, or electrolytic deposition technique from aqueous solutions, are suitable. The transparent insulating layer 103 is composed of Al2 O3 , MgF2 , SiO2 , TiO2 , ZnS, CeF3 , ZrO2 or the like, which are prepared through vacuum evaporation technique, sputtering technique, electrolytic deposition technique, CDV technique, spraying technique, or dipping technique which are suitable. |
