A section of heated metal tube (1) is a heater cartridge forming part of a gas chromatography assembly. The tube (1) has an external meandering groove (2) which receives an electrically-insulated heating wire (7), embedded by an adhesive within the tube (1). The tube has an outer electrically-insulating oxide sheath.
