A music stand is provided that is more stable and can support more weight compared to conventional music stands. The invention provides a multi-shafted music stand (10). The multi-shafted music stand comprises a platform (15), a first shaft (17), a second shaft (18) and a base (30). The platform includes a first platform connection (41) and a second platform connection (42) that receive a first and second shaft, respectively. The first shaft is substantially parallel and separated from the second shaft. The base includes a first base connection (71) and a second base connection (72). The first base end (37) of the first shaft is received into the first base connection and the second base end (39) of the second shaft is received into the second base connection. This shaft arrangement prevents the music stand from swiveling. The base and dual shaft enable a music platform to support more weight and provide greater stability than conventional, single-shafted music stands, without appreciable swivel.
