PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect highly reliably with superior safety by fractionatingα-fetoproteins (AFP) present in a body fluid of a pregnant woman on the basis of a difference in sugar chain structure, and then measuring the AFPs having a specific sugar chain structure. SOLUTION: According to this method, AFPs present in a body fluid of a pregnant woman, namely, an amniotic fluid, a blood plasma or the like collected from the pregnant woman of 10-20 pregnancy weeks is fractionated on the basis of a difference in sugar chain structure, and the AFPs having a specific sugar chain structure are measured, thereby judging a fetal chromosomal aberration. The AFP has a compelx double strand and can be fractionated with the use of lectin. The fractionated AFPs having the specific sugar chain structure are, e.g. one expressed by a formula I, II and the like. In order to judge the aberration, a sample obtained from a pregnant woman of the same age and pregnancy weeks as the pregnant woman to be inspected and who is confirmed to bear a normal fetus is measured according to this method. A quantity obtained from the sample to be inspected is compared with a quantity of specific AFPs obtained from the normal sample. If a significant difference is detected, the presence of 'a possibility of a fetal chromosomal aberration' is judged.
