PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rugged discharge lamp having a long service life and high lumen output by arranging a lamp, a ballast and a reflecting mirror in a chamber, and assembling/arranging the inside surface of a housing to support the ballast and the reflecting mirror. SOLUTION: A reflecting mirror 16 is positioned between a lamp 12 and a ballast 14 in a chamber 30. The reflecting mirror 16 is not assembled on the lamp 12 and the ballast 14. Therefore, when it is necessary to replace since the lamp 12 or the ballast 14 is not satisfactorily operating, the reflecting mirror 16 can be easily removed from between a subassembly of the lamp 12 and the ballast 14, and can be inserted between the replacing lamp 12 and ballast 14. A housing 18 surrounds the chamber 30, and contains the inside surface 38 assembled/arranged to support the ballast 14 and the reflecting mirror 16. This inside surface 38 is desirably engaged with the ballast 14 and the reflecting mirror 16. |
