The invention relates to a method which makes it possible to adapt the deployment of restraint elements in a vehicle to the specific characteristics of a vehicle which is about to be involved in a collision, in such a way as to guarantee optimal protection for the vehicle occupants. Before two vehicles collide, each vehicle transmits (S) data relating to vehicle-specific characteristics of its own which could affect the course of the collision. Each vehicle receives (E) the vehicle-specific data transmitted (S) by the other and uses it to determine control data (a1,à., an) for the deployment of its restraint elements (RH1,à.., RHn). |
