The loading container (8) for lumpy material to be melted incorporates a rotatable drum (10) which is inclined to the horizontal and is provided with a scoop (11) rotating together with the drum. The scoop has a flap (17) which can be opened and closed in the upper sector of drum rotation from outside by means of a mechanism (18). The drum casing incorporates a magnetic zone.
