PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deodorant material capable of adsorbing and decomposing malodorous substances even in the case the material is not in a special environments, for example, under ultraviolet ray radiation. SOLUTION: This deodorant material for removing malodorous substances in air comprises a carrier made of an activated carbon fiber, a first catalyst component of a metal element deposited on the carrier, and a second catalyst component of oxides of one or more elements selected from magnesium, aluminum, silicon, titanium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, yttrium, zirconium, niobium, molybdenum, indium, tin, lanthanum, and cerium and also deposited on the carrier. In this case, the first catalyst component is normally deposited in 0.05-5 g per 100 g of the carrier and the second catalyst is normally deposited in 1-25 g per 100 g of the carrier and the mole ratio of the second catalyst component to the first catalyst component is normally controlled to be 0.005-0.2.
|
