PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the influence of expansion of a side air bag during getting in/out a vehicle of an occupant by providing a means for adjusting the predetermined time in response to the opening and closing condition of a side door near the side air bag. SOLUTION: When a door is opened, it can be expected that an occupant is getting in or out a vehicle. In this case, expansion of a side air bag 21 with the ordinary explosion of both inflators 1, 2 is undesirable for the occupant getting in or out the vehicle. On the other hand, even in the case where the side door 23 is opened, it is expected that the occupant is sitting on a seat. At the time of expanding the side air bag 21 in the condition that the side door 23 is opened, the only inflator 1 is exploded so as to reduce the expanding pressure in comparison with the case where the side door 23 is not opened. With this structure, the influence of the expansion of the side air bag due to the generation of a side collision during the getting in/out of the occupant can be lowered. |
