Tris(hydroxynaphthylazo) bridged triphenylamine compounds (I) are new. Tris(hydroxynaphthylazo) bridged triphenylamine compounds (I) of formula (A; T1 = R1-N=N-; T2 = R2-N=N-; T3 = R3-N=N- ) are new; at least 2 of X, Y, Z = bridges formed by a direct bond between the phenyl rings of the triphenylamine system, carbon (C) atom(s), at least one of which has an exocyclic double bond to oxygen (O) or nitrogen (N), a sulfur (S) atom or a S atom forming part of 1 or 2 exocyclic double bonds to O; R1, R2, R3 = naphthol coupler residues R4, R5, R6 = hydrogen (H), lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen . Independent claims are also included for (a) intermediate trisdiazonium salts (II)of formula (A; T1, T2, T3 = -N2<+> ); (b) triamines (III) of formula (A; T1, T2, T3 = NH2 ) from which (I) and (II) are prepared; and (c) the preparation of (II) and (I).
