PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst easy to handle and having a high reaction efficiency and to provide a removal apparatus capable of efficiently treating harmful substances by using the photocatalyst. SOLUTION: A porous anodic film formed on the surface of Al or an Al alloy with a photocatalyst to give this photocatalyst and the porous anodic film is controlled to have fine pores with 10-200 nm, preferably 50-150 nm size. In this removing apparatus A for removing harmful components by a photocatalyst 9, the above defined photocatalyst 9 is used as the photocatalyst and a means for radiating light 10 to the photocatalyst is installed.
