<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently perform the subject separation and purification by using a clay mineral bearing metal ions each having an affinity with a carbon- carbon double bond as a separating carrier and using a supercritical fluid as an eluent. CONSTITUTION:A clay mineral, such as montmorillonite or nontronite, is caused to bear metal ions (e.g. silver ions) each having an affinity with a carbon-carbon double bond to thereby obtain a separating carrier. Preferably, a column is packed with this separating carrier, and a liquid treatment with a highly unsaturated fatty acid (e.g. docosahexaenoic acid) and its homologue (e.g. ethyl docosahexaenoate) is made to the column to effect adsorption. Using a supercritical fluid (e.g. carbon dioxide in a supercritical state) as an eluent, the highly unsaturated fatty acid and its homologue are selectively eluted. It is preferred that a polar organic solvent (e.g. acetone) be mixed with the eluent.</p> |
