The film (1) is stored on a reel (B) and unwound by rotating rollers (R) mounted on a frame. Between two rollers (R3,R4) is a head (T) for the hot application of glue (2). The cardboard packaging crates are closed by at least one adhesive tape. The stretchable plastic film with an adhesive layer on one surface has a part of it applied on to the adhesive tape and the crates are surrounded by the film by at least one turn.
