A printing apparatus of a photosensitive microcapsule type which can be microminiaturized to a size as small as a cigarette case and an image processing system with the printing apparatus are disclosed. Printing paper P of a photosensitive microcapsule type in a cassette C is fed, and a ratchet roll 2 intermittently rotates to intermittently feed the printing paper P in conjunction with a pinch roll 3. A scan shaft 5 is rotated by a motor 4. By a feeding function of an endless spiral groove grooved in the scan shaft 5, a carriage 6 is reciprocated. Light corresponding to image data from light emitting diodes 7 attached to the carriage 6 is irradiated onto the printing paper P, pressure is applied by a rolling roll 26 and a platen 29, and a heater 8 is brought into sliding contact with the printing paper P to heat the print paper P and facilitate color development.
