PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an electronic program guide EPG in a way that the user references the EPG while viewing a program video image. SOLUTION: An EPG 101 is displayed longitudinally at a left side of a menu. A reduced image 102 is displayed on an upper right of the menu. This image 102 is a video image of a program reduced at an aspect ratio (16:9) the same as that of a monitor screen size and the entire image of a program is displayed without being cut off. Thus, the user references the EPG while viewing the program video image. Program character information of programs of the EPG 101 pointed out by a pointer is displayed on a display section 103 at a lower side of the program image 102. Furthermore, channel character information of a selected channel is displayed on the lower side of the display section 104.
