PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CO removing device and its operating method, capable of avoiding the problem for preventing harmful hydrogen combustion reaction accompanying on the removing reaction of high temperature CO suddenly generating in the vicinity of a reformed gas introduction inlet of the device, and conducting a smooth CO removing reaction with a constitution simpler than the existing constitution in the CO removing device of a fuel cell system. SOLUTION: A selective oxidation reactor 51b (inner cylinder) having a double-cylinder structure, a reforming gas chamber 51a (outer cylinder), and two coolers 52, 53 are used, the reformed gas of about 200 deg.C is caused to flow into the reforming gas chamber 51a, heat is transmitted to a selective oxidation catalyst 511 in the selective oxidation reactor 51b to raise the temperature of the selective oxidation catalyst 511, the reformed gas is cooled to about 100 deg.C with the reformed gas cooler 52, introduced into the selective oxidation reactor 51b, the reaction temperature is kept at about 250 deg.C or lower, and CO removing reaction is conducted. After CO has been removed, the reformed gas is cooled to about 70-80 deg.C with the cooler 53, then introduced to a fuel cell 6. |
