A stapler capable of ascertaining from the outside the remaining quantity of a set of staples already held in a case and the length of the staples. The side walls (10B, 10C) of the case (10) of the stapler are provided with rows of openings comprising a plurality of through holes (15) and arranged along side portions of a guide rail (20) in the case (10). When a mark (47) is provided on a feed slide (43), the position of the feed slide (43) can be ascertained easily, and the remaining quantity of a set of staples (30) is judged from the position of the feed slide (43). Out of these through holes (15), the holes above a staple discharge portion (10D) are formed as vertically elongated through holes (15A) so as to enable the length of the staples (30) to be ascertained.
