PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isolated polynucleotide useful for screening an antibiotic, treatment, etc., by including a polynucleotide having an identity equal to or larger than a fixed value of a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide has >=70% identity of a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence of formula I or formula II or encoding the same polynucleotide as that expressed by a ftsY gene contained in Streptococcus pneumonia. Preferably a host cell transformed with a vector containing the isolated nucleotide is cultured to produce a ftsY polypeptide.
