PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode capable of enjoying a long service life even when electrolysis is performed at a high current density in an oxygen generating electrode as the electrode used in the electrolysis of the aq. chlorine ion-contg. soln. represented by seawater, generating oxygen while suppressing the generation of chlorine and formed by forming a conductive coating film of Mn-W (Mo) mixed oxide formed on the surface by anodic deposition. SOLUTION: A Ti sheet 1 having many holes, concretely a Ti sheet provided with many holes by machining or etching, an expanded TiN or a Ti mesh is selected to make it as an electrode substrate, an IrO2 coating film 3 is furnished on the surface and then, a conductive coating film of mixed oxide contg. 0.2-20 mol.% one or both of W oxide and Mo oxide and in which the balance is substantially occupied by Mn oxide, is formed thereon by anodic deposition to produce the electrode. |
