An anchor for complete embedment in a seabed and connected to an anchor line consists of one or is composed of plate members (5, 6) which are driven down into the seabed in a vertical position. The anchor line (3) is attached to the anchor (14) in such a way that the load of the anchor line (3) will cause a rotation from the vertical position to an inclined position of equilibrium. For deploying and completely embedding an anchor in a seabed, which anchor is connected to an anchor line, an anchor (66) is provided consisting of one or composed of plate members, the anchor (66) is positioned in a horizontal position of the deck of a vessel, the anchor (66) is positioned with its centre of gravity off the side of a vessel, the anchor (66) can then using suitable means be tilted into a vertical position and lowered vertically into the sea and to the seabed (1), and the anchor (66) is then made to penetrate the seabed (1) until it is completely embedded therein.
