An internal combustion engine, with at least two cylinders supplied individually with a fuel-air mixture, has a supplementary air feed line (23) opening out into each cylinder's suction passage (21). All the supplementary air lines open out into a common flow rate controller (24) which has a metering edge for each supplementary air feed line. The supplementary air feed lines enter the suction passages close to the cylinder head at a distance away from the carburetor (22).
