A hangover-relieving composition containing red pepper leaf as a main material, together with an extract of Hovenia dulcis, Alnus japonica, Atractylodes japonica, Artemisia capillaris and Curcuma longa is provided to ensure excellent hangover-relieving effect after drinking without adverse effect by excellent degradation effect on alcohol and acetaldehyde. A hangover-relieving composition contains an extract of 65 to 75% by weight of red pepper leaf, 3 to 6% by weight of Hovenia dulcis, 3 to 6% by weight of Alnus japonica, 6 to 12% by weight of Atractylodes japonica, 3 to 6% by weight of Artemisia capillaris and 6 to 12% by weight of Curcuma longa. For an example, 70% by weight of red pepper leaf, 4% by weight of Hovenia dulcis, 4% by weight of Alnus japonica, 9% by weight of Atractylodes japonica, 4% by weight of Artemisia capillaris and 9% by weight of Curcuma longa are mixed with 8 times their weight of purified water, extracted at 110deg.C for 6hr, filtered with a Whatman filter(No.2) and concentrated under pressure.
