The game includes a playing piece dispenser providing a number of playing pieces (26) having distinct colours, and a number of targets (32) associated with at least one of the distinct colours. A sensor appts. is arranged to sense the colour of a playing piece received by a target. The targets can pref. be distinguished with a highlighter to draw a player's attention to a designated target. A scoring appts. changes a game score (14) when the colour of a ball received by a highlighted target matches a colour associated with the highlighted target. The colour sensor appts. includes a charge coupled device (CCD) including several colour sensitive pixels, a fibre optic cable having a first end adjacent to an object and a second end adjacent to the colour sensitive pixels, and a digital computation device coupled to the CCD for determining the predominant colour of the object. Pref. the game includes a return mechanism for automatically guiding a playing piece received by the targets to the piece dispenser. Pref. the game also includes an award dispenser (20) which dispenses an award based upon the game score.
