The balance testing method involves detecting the movement of the head and or body of the tested individual relative to several coordinate axes, with simultaneous optoelectronic detection of eye movement, with correlation of the corresponding measured values for subsequent evaluation. The movement of the tested individual may be detected via an inertial measuring device (2,3) attached to the head, together with an optoelectronic measuring device (4,5) for detecting the eye movement. The testing method can be used for neurology, e.g. for detecting pathological variations in a patient's sense of balance. An Independent claim is also included for a balance testing device.
