PRODUCTION OF PURIFIED INTERFERON DERIVED FROM MAMMAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently preparing a purified interferon (IFN) by infecting a host with a recombinant baculovirus including an IFN gene, expressing the gene, and subjecting the product to each column of a silica gel, a metal chelate and a lectin. SOLUTION: A host (e.g. a mite body of an insect) is infected by a recombinant baculovirus having an incorporated gene encoding IFN protein (e.g. recombinant Bombyx mori Nuclear Polyherosis Virus), and an IFN- containing liquid (e.g. interferon-γ-containing liquid) comprising an insect humor, an insect-ground liquid or the like is produced therefrom. The IFN-containing liquid is subjected to a silica gel column, a metal chelate column and a lectin column to effectively provide the objective purified IFN in the method for preparing the purified IFN. The IFN has antiviral activities and is useful as an active ingredient or the like of a medicine for antiviral agent, antitumor agent or the like.
