PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the continuous excavation in the optimal condition while preventing the generation of rock fall at a working face and a crown by detecting the cutter torque and the thrust during the excavation, and displaying the parameter proportioned to the rock strength with a graph in real time. SOLUTION: A tunnel excavator provided with a cutter head 3 and a thrust jack 4 detects the cutter torque, thrust, excavating speed, the number of revolution of the cutter head, and power consumption of a cutter rotating motor with each sensor during the excavation. A computer computes the torque related parameter A to be proportioned to the rock strength and the thrust related parameter B, and a display device displays the relation between the parameters A, B in real time with a graph. In the case of well-going excavation, the parameter is displayed in a band-like normal excavation area in response to the rock strength, but in the case where a working face is fallen, the torque related parameter A is increased, and in the case where the crown is fallen, the thrust related parameter B is increased. Consequently, the optimal excavating condition is selected so as to continue the efficient excavation. |
